The Eastland High School one-act play performance scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Just a reminder to parents and students that we will be STAAR testing on Tuesday and Thursday this week. On Tuesday the 5th all freshman and any re-testers for the ENG 1 test need to be at school at regular time. All other students will report at 1 PM. On Thursday the 7th, we will be testing all Sophomores and any ENG 2 re-testers. All other students will report at 1 PM. Maverick Family At 8:10 today on “CBS This Morning” our high school band director, Mr. Cox, is being announced as the winner of the 2022 GRAMMY Music Educator Award. The segment will include video of our town and interviews with our students. At this time, Mr. and Mrs. Cox are already in Las Vegas where they will be participating in official Grammy week events. During the telecasts of the Grammy’s on Sunday there will be a moment where Award Show Host Trevor Noah acknowledges Mr. Cox and he will be seen briefly on camera as well. We are so very proud of Mr. Cox and cannot wait for him to get back to Eastland so that we can celebrate this with him.

Varsity baseball will be at 4 pm today with JV to follow. We adjusted the schedule to try to get the games in before the storms.

Eastland ISD Family and Eastland County Residents: A disaster assistance center has been established at the Siebert Elementary Dome (100 Little Maverick Trail, Eastland) for impacted residents to receive assistance in reporting damages through iSTAT, register for cleanup assistance and meet with non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross, United Rescue Alliance, and the Cornerstone Community Action Agency. Organizations, services, and assistance on site subject to change. United Rescue Alliance, in partnership with the Big Country VOAD, TDEM, and the Community Foundation of Abilene, is currently in Eastland offering support to survivors and agencies. United Rescue Alliance is a disaster relief agency headquartered in Abilene with a focus on preparedness, response, and long-term transformative recovery efforts. United Rescue Alliance has crews in the Eastland area assessing community needs and offering financial assistance to households seeking basic needs. To be considered for financial assistance, please contact United Rescue Alliance 817-721-7558 for information regarding the application process or visit the Siebert Elementary Dome - Disaster Assistance Center. Casework will begin with the American Red Cross, Thursday at the Siebert Elementary Dome. The center will open Thursday at 8 a.m until 6 p.m. Individuals and Families can also call the Red Cross hotline at 1-800-Red-Cross to open a case. Together, Eastland County will recover. As your kids prepare to come back on campus, we realize many may be struggling with what has happened. Siebert Elementary Parents/Guardians, Eastland ISD is hosting the Eastland Disaster Assistance Center at the Siebert Dome. We ask that as you pick up students in the afternoon to please be patient with the process and the additional vehicles/personnel in the southeast area of our parking lot. Dear EISD Family and all of Eastland County, We at Eastland ISD know that no words we can say will be enough to console those of you with the loss that has occurred because of the wildfires. Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. Eastland ISD is housing some of the disaster assistance at the Siebert Elementary Dome. The main service there is the Texas Division of Emergency Management. You can report damages to them in person. They will be there 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm. FYI on behalf of the River of Life Church: EASTLAND COUNTY DROPOFF POINT Anyone wanting to help families affected by the fires. River of Life is open and accepting donations. We are taking ESSENTIAL, NECESSITY, AND TOILETRY ITEMS (deodorant, soaps, toothpaste, toothbrush, combs, brushes, shampoo, etc) along with new clothing/gently used. Please bring your items to the Fellowship Hall in the back parking lot of the church.
