Dear EISD Parents and Guardians,
On January 20 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Eastland Middle School administration was notified that a middle school student was reported to have what was believed to be a toy gun inside a backpack.
Middle school administrators and EISD School Resource Officers immediately investigated the report. It was confirmed that the look-alike weapon was indeed a toy and not a real firearm. As of this time, there have been no reports of any threats of any manner related to this incident.
The situation was addressed promptly, and all appropriate safety procedures were followed. At no time was there a threat to students or staff. EISD takes every situation of this nature, or any safety concern, very seriously.
Student safety is our highest priority. We appreciate the quick reporting of concerns and the cooperation of our students, staff, and law enforcement in maintaining a safe learning environment.
Thank you for your continued support of Eastland ISD.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Williams
Superintendent
Eastland Independent School District
