Eastland ISD has been named a “Best Community for Music Education” by the NAMM Foundation for the second year in a row!
Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.
Two awards are given each year: Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) for school districts and the SupportMusic Merit Award (SMMA) for individual school sites. Both reach K-12 schools and districts throughout the U.S. and offer opportunities to increase awareness and support for music programs. Over 1,000 districts and individual school sites (public, private, charter, parochial) were recognized for having the highest commitment to producing exceptional music programs.
This national honor recognizes districts that demonstrate outstanding commitment and access to music education. It’s awarded only to select school districts that meet rigorous qualifications through an application process—and we’re proud to once again be among them.
On this award, Cody Knott, Director of Bands for EISD, had this to say: "This recognition would not be possible without the incredible support of our administration, school board, staff, families, and community, who continue to value and invest in the power of music education. I want to personally thank Kathy Harris at Siebert Elementary, and Jenna and Mario Larios-Garcia at EMS/EHS, for their dedication and tireless efforts in nurturing the musical talents of our students. Their passion and professionalism inspire our students every day and are at the heart of this achievement. This is truly a team effort, and I am grateful to work alongside such talented and committed educators."
