Attention Mavericks: The purpose of this notice is in regards to junior varsity and varsity Maverick Football. Due to the number of COVID 19 diagnoses, as well as the number of student athletes who are out with COVID 19 symptoms, Eastland ISD has determined it is in the best interest of all parties involved to cancel the junior varsity as well as the varsity football games scheduled for September 17th and 18th. Middle School football games will go on as scheduled. This is not a decision taken lightly but one I do believe is correct given the current circumstances. I appreciate your support and understanding. Dr. Jason Cochran Eastland ISD

**Changes to spectator attendance at all Eastland ISD extracurricular events** 9-4-2020 EISD has been informed by our local health officials that the number of active cases of Covid-19 has exceeded twenty cases in Eastland County; Eastland ISD is now required to adhere fully to Executive Order GA-29 in accordance with U.I.L. guidelines. In addition to social distancing... *All employees, parents, visitors and students ten years of age or older must wear face coverings or face shields upon entry to an area where UIL activities are being conducted and when not actively practicing or playing in the contest. We are lucky to have the opportunity to continue with UIL sports and activities given the current state of things. UIL has made it clear that an outbreak in the stands could prove just as detrimental as one in the locker room. We respectfully ask that all our Maverick fans help us adhere to the U.I.L. protocols so that our students get to keep competing in the games they love. If you have issues that are still needing to be addressed after Monday, please contact me at abramlett@eastland.esc14.net. Thanks for your patience as we get back to face to face instruction.

Regarding Stadium capacity at Maverick Stadium: As many of you know, one of the covid 19 safety precautions is limited spectator capacity at all UIL events. During regular competitions limited tickets will be purchased, in advance, in an effort to assist us in meeting the capacity expectations. However, we do have several scrimmages scheduled, in all areas of competition, in which the same restrictions are in place but we will not be selling tickets. We ask if your child is not competing please allow for family member(s) of the student athletes to have priority attendance. At our home scrimmages administrators will be monitoring capacity. We are limited to every other row and 6 feet between family groups. Please comply with the request made by the staff in an effort to meet the guidelines. UIL has made it clear, failure to comply with the guidelines could result in cancellation of home games or cancelation of a season. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Students and Parents, Students taking courses in the A plus learning systems to make up credits will need to have these courses completed by Thursday, August 20, 2020. If the course is not completed by this date, the student will be placed in a class to make up any missing credits. If the unfinished course is a STAAR tested class (Algebra 1, English 1, English 2, Biology, or US History) then the student will be required to take the EOC exam for that classes. STAAR Tested Courses completed by August 20, 2020 will be waived (not required) and not taken as part of the COVID pandemic.

For Tuesday July 14th ONLY morning workouts have been moved to 5:30 pm. This is to inform parents that we have had a report of a student being tested for COVID19. The results are still pending. The athlete has not participated in summer workouts since Monday, July 6th. Due to the time period since the athlete has come in contact with anybody in the summer conditioning program and after consulting with medical professionals EISD does not feel the need to cancel summer workouts. If you feel the need to or you desire your athlete to stay home pending the results of the COVID 19 test we completely understand. If you have any questions, please call Coach Morton at 254-631-8017.

To the students of EHS, I am writing this to try to answer a few questions that have been coming up a lot the last few days. 1. Graduation??? We have made no plans, at this time, to alter graduation. Our plan is to have a traditional graduation. Our decisions will ultimately be made based on guidelines from the local, state, and federal levels. 2. Prom??? Prom was not cancelled, it was postponed. The plan (parents and school) is to have prom at a later date. Obviously there are no set plans at this point, but our goal is that there will still be a 2020 prom. 3. Grades??? Grades are being taken based on your online work. Email, google classroom, and zoom are the best ways to communicate with your teachers. You can also contact the school at 631-5000 and I will get you in touch with your teachers. We also have chromebooks available if you are having difficulty working on your phones. 4. Scholarships??? Seniors, your packets were emailed to you and need to be filled out and returned to the school (call and make an appointment) by the deadlines for each scholarship. We miss you and look forward to the time we are all back in school and in a routine. Stay safe and well. Adam Bramlett

It is important that we do our best to comply with all of the suggestions made to reduce the spread of COVID 19. Beginning Wednesday March 25, 2020 EHS will reduce all campus staff to essential personnel only and reduce entrances to each campus to one entrance per building. Each person will sign in and complete the “self-screening” questions before entering the building. Please note, visitors will be seen by appointment only. To schedule and appointment, please call 631-5000 or email abramlett@eastland.esc14.net This is uncharted territory for all of us. Thank you for your patience as we make necessary changes. Below is an example of the sign in sheet… Staff sign in: 1. Have you taken your temperature today? Circle one: Yes No 2. Do you currently have a fever? Circle one: Yes No 3. Do you have a fever and symptoms of lower respiratory illness (e.g., cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath)? Circle one: Yes No 4. Have you or any person in your family, had close contact with a laboratory confirmed COVID-19 (positive case of coronavirus) patient or somebody displaying symptoms within the past 14 days? Circle one: Yes No Have a blessed day and be safe.

Attention Dual Credit and Honors Parents... January 8, 2020 Your child will receive their report cards on Thursday January the 9th and you will see the grades that they earned the first semester in their honors and dual credit classes. The numeric average in advanced classes will no longer reflect the 10 points as it is now automatically calculated in their GPA. Historically, EHS has manually added the 10 points to each numeric average. Our system is now set up to add the weighted average of an advanced class to their GPA. This will have zero impact on top ten, valedictorian, salutatorian or the gold and silver teams (all of which are determined by GPA). Should you have any questions, please call the office at 631-5000 from 7:30am-4:30pm. Thanks for your support. Adam Bramlett Principal EHS

The Class of 2023 would like to sincerely thank any and all who attended last Friday night’s “Movie Night” at the Track. As you may know, this was our first attempt at holding an outdoor movie. The weather was wonderful and we drew a very nice crowd, but unfortunately we did experience a significant time delay due to several different technical difficulties, for which we would like to extend our deep and sincere apologies. Please do not discount us in the future, for we have since corrected those issues and are confident that we can overcome any similar problems in the future. With all of that being said, the “Movie Night” was a great success for the Class of 2023 and we intend to host several more movie events at different locations throughout the year so please watch for our signage and social media posts for times and locations. Again, we will have a full concession stand with all of your favorites snacks and drinks! We hope to see you there! Thank you - The Class of 2023

This message is a reminder to all parents that the end of the first six weeks was last Friday, September 20th. Grades will be sent home Thursday, September 26th. I would encourage you to log onto Parent Portal and view your child's grades at any time to check their progress. Our calculation program has changed regarding dual credit classes and/or advanced classes. They still hold a weighted value 10 points above normal credit, but the 10 points will not be calculated until the end of the semester. Class rank is and has been determined on semester average. This 6 weeks calculation system will have ZERO impact on class rank but will provide the parents an appropriate picture of how this student is performing in the class at that time. For example, If you see that your child has a grade of a 72 in a dual credit or advanced class know that when calculated at the end of the semester that would be calculated as an 82. For parenting purposes knowing that their current progress is at 72% may assist in discussions of responsibility, accountability or appropriate class placement. Gold and silver teams will not be effected by this change. We will determine eligibility for the teams based on semester averages. Thanks for your help in this transition.

Online registration is open. Go to: https://gb.txeis14.net/pp067903/Login.aspx Top ten questions answered. 1. All students will need to be registered online this year. As with anything new, it may be a bit frustrating. 2. This is in place of the packet of colored forms you normally complete at the beginning of each year. 3.You will have to have a txConnect account. 4. txConnect is often referred to as Parent Portal. 5. If you don't have an account, you will need your students unique portal ID and a valid email address to set one up. If you call the school at 631-5040 we can give you the portal ID and verify the email address we have on file. 6. This registration it faster and less repetitive than the paper packet. 7. You cannot use the txconnect app. You will have to copy the link into your browser if using a cell phone. (we realize this makes no sense and are frustrated by it as well) 8. If you need help, we have computers set up at the school for you to use, and people to help you. 9. Your student will not be able to get their schedule until online registration is complete. 10. We hope this makes registration easier and faster for parents!

The Eastland County High School Fishing Team will be holding a meeting next Tuesday June 11th at 5:45 at Outdoor Specialties in Eastland. We will be discussing the upcoming year/season. Anyone who is interested must attend the meeting with a parent and must be a high school student, 9th-12th grade. The team is a COUNTY wide fishing team, so if you are in Eastland County and in High School you are eligible to participate. Teams are 2 students per boat. If you are interested in being a boat captain for a team during the tournaments please attend the meeting or call Danny Foster, Auston Rose or Terry Rose at 254-629-8877 for more information. You do NOT have to have a child on the team to be a boat captain. If you are not sure about the fishing program, please come to the meeting and we can answer any questions or concerns you may have. We are excited for our 2nd year of a great program for Eastland County High School kids. Hope to see you there!

This morning at approximately 6:45 am, Eastland ISD had a bus experience what appears to be a blowout and ran off the road North of Eastland on CR 165. A special thank you to all the students whose behavior was excellent and helped greatly with the situation. Everyone is safe and at school. Thank you to the parents, First Responders, and staff for their quick communication and response in helping keep our children safe. We greatly appreciate everyone for all they did and are doing to help in this situation.
